Burn ban lifted for county
Union County Judge Bobby Edmonds announced that he is lifting the temporary burn ban until Friday, but urges citizens to use common sense and caution.
"Anyone burning should have the necessary equipment readily available to extinguish any fires," he said. "With winds, we could easily wind up back in the same boat."
Edmonds announced the burn ban before New Year’s Eve in response to a long spell of dry weather. Wildfires in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and in nearby Ashley County, have raised concern across the state and region, which have received very little rainfall in recent months.
