By TONI WALTHALL News-Times Staff Two men broke into a woman’s home in Strong early Tuesday morning, leaving her tied to her bed after threatening her.
The victim was awakened around 5 a.m. Tuesday by a noise in her B Street home. She told Union County Sheriff’s deputies that two unknown males entered her residence through the front door and forced themselves into her bedroom.
Taking her by surprise, the men overpowered her and obstructed her view by wrapping the bed cover around her face. One of the men held her down, while the other used duct tape to cover her mouth and eyes and to bind her hands and feet to the bed.
According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office report, the suspects made threats to the woman and pilfered through the home in search of valuables. The suspects made comments to the victim about a family member, leading deputies to believe this was not a random attack.
After she was certain the intruders were gone, the victim freed herself from the bed. She fled to a nearby home, where neighbors helped cut away the remaining duct tape and contacted law enforcement officers.
The woman told deputies that she could not identify her attackers, but witness accounts indicate that two men were seen getting into a vehicle shortly after the incident. The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Deputies believe the victim was known by the attackers
