As you may have heard we have been dealing with some issues at the Calion Ouachita River Levee over the last few days. I have posted some pictures of the work crews applying sand bags to a drainpipe that has been leaking river floodwater back inside the levy at Calion. Union County Highway Department personnel and Sheriff’s Deputies have been working together in conjunction with the Corp of Engineers to repair the problem. In most of the pictures you will see inmates from the Union County Jail being utilized to sand bag the pipe on the riverside of the levee. There is no immediate danger to persons living in Calion but if the leak is not repaired it could cause some serious flooding for the City of Calion. County Officials have been working around the clock to insure that every measure is being taken to protect the city of Calion and outlining areas.
